Freelance Writer Wanted?

Ghostwriting seem to be all the rage these days. Everyone and his dog seems to think they can write. Some undoubtedly can, but many have hopes and little else.

Today’s quoted post sets out to inform the reader of not only the good things about ghostwriting, but the pitfalls too. All too often the downside is not mentioned with the glory side being played up.

Today’s Highlighted Resource: Freelance Writers Wanted.

“It is important to understand that with being a ghostwriter, eBooks do not have the author’s name attached although sometimes, there will be special mention.”

If you want to be a ghost writer, don’t expect to see your name in lights. In fact, don’t expect to see your name anywhere!

“In this type of writing, the client purchasing the writing services of the author uses his or her name, meaning the writer gets no credit.”

That’s the “ghost” in ghostwriter coming out. As a ghostwriter you are a phantom, an invisible nobody. You are as elusive as the ghost in the old mansion on the hill and no one knows you exist. Why do it then? For the money, of course! Ghostwriters can be very well paid indeed.

“While some people have a problem with this type of setup, ghostwriting has been done for a long time and is used by millions of people, even those who write speeches for the President of the United States are ghostwriters.”

Now, I don’t mean to be flippant here (well, maybe a little…), but if I was writing speeches for one certain very recent president of the United States, I’d definitely want to remain unknown!

“To be a good ghostwriter, eBooks have to be well written and formatted, meaning the content has to reach the intended audience and be created for easy reading. With hard work, a solid eBook can be written successfully.”

It certainly does take hard work. It’s a bit thankless too. No one knows you exist, The guy who paid you gets the glory and all you get is the pay. That’s ghostwriting!

But having said that, it certainly has its up side too. A ghostwriter can do very well with a good reputation. It takes time to build up a good reputation, but it is very much worth it in the long run.
